Joseph’s passion for oral argument began in kindergarten when he informed his teacher that he wanted to be a lawyer. In 5th grade, Joseph obtained a mock trial defense verdict and a career was born.
With more than 25 years of legal experience, Joseph’s specialty lies in the courtroom where he handles both civil and criminal cases. Joseph utilizes his international law training in serving the needs of individuals and businesses in global litigation and has conducted hundreds of bench trials, administrative hearings and depositions involving professional and product liability, mass tort, intellectual property, municipal defense, banking and commercial litigation.
Joseph is experienced in federal and multi-state practice and procedure, having defended patent infringement claims along with several actions against drug and medical device manufacturers including diet drug litigation on behalf of Wyeth. Joseph routinely handles complex civil litigation, white-collar criminal defense, insurance coverage and liability claims.
In addition to representing individuals under investigation or charged with violations of federal and state criminal or administrative law, Joseph has extensive juvenile court experience representing parents and children concerning allegations of abuse, neglect and delinquency.
Joseph earned valuable trial experience with Utah’s Office of Guardian ad Litem, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office and a Princeton law firm. Joseph became a Shareholder in one of Utah’s oldest and largest law firms where he maintained an active trial practice while coordinating lateral attorney recruiting and serving on the firm’s business development and policy and procedures committees. After acquiring nearly a decade of “big law” experience, Joseph became a partner in a small Park City boutique law firm where he developed his real estate legal experience.
In order to meet the increasing demands of his legal business, in 2012 Joseph formed Barrett Law, P.C. (www.utahlawgroup.com)
Recognized by his peers as Utah Legal Elite™ Joseph has excelled in sports law and professional athlete representation and was the first registered Athlete Agent to negotiate an NFL Player Contract in Salt Lake County.
When not in the courtroom or serving as a high school mock trial coach, Joseph’s negotiating skills are further refined at home with his wife and 6 children.

Natasha leads the marketing and business development program for the Utah Law Group.
In addition to assisting in developing new business, Natasha is charged with maintaining and building relationships with existing clients and her diverse artistic and academic background offers fresh perspectives to the Utah Law Group.
After obtaining scholarships for her undergraduate and graduate studies, Natasha earned four degrees and was selected as 1 of 8 scholars representing the United States for the highly competitive Belgian American Education Fellowship for research in Belgium. There, she produced groundbreaking studies on the writings of 19th century Belgian nuns – while thoroughly enjoying the local brew.
With these credentials, Natasha is not afraid of competition. Natasha has taught French Literature at 3 universities (University of Utah, Rutgers University and Westminster College) and created upper division curriculum in Belgian literature. As one of the few Belgian literature scholars in the United States, she is an international speaker at select conferences.
In her early years, Natasha’s energetic personality was dispensed while dancing with the professional ballet company, Tulsa Ballet Theatre (now Tulsa Ballet) in Oklahoma and performing with the Utah Opera.
Natasha’s experience in the classroom and on stage has enabled her to be very comfortable when speaking and interacting with prospective and institutional clients. When not “working,” Natasha manages her spouse and army of six children. As a dual Belgian/ American citizen, she often crosses the pond for mini sabbaticals of Belgian food, spirits and friends. During her free time, you can find her rocking to her latest iTunes while cycling, quietly hiking in the mountains, skiing, or instant messaging the recent mishaps of child rearing with her friends and family.
